Te Aro Wetland

Toetoe: Navigating throughout the living ecosystem
Harakeke: The permeating seasonal growth of surrounding wetland flora
Raupo: Shifting and vibrating in response to the changing water levels

Bachelor of Design with Honours

This project proposes the reintroduction of biodiverse experiences into an urban working and living environment with a biophilic design agenda. The historic Te Aro swamp is reintroduced as an ecological intervention situated in a dormant carpark. Moments of connection between visitors and the wetland are encouraged through a walking experience integrated with built features that are responsive to the wetland while functional as areas for rest, shelter, gathering and observation.
