Salt for Sugar includes photographed sites where violent attacks on women occurred within the Wellington region, which I am renaming sites of survival. I hole punched through the images as a performative action to physically alter them in order to show strength and empowerment for both artist and audience. Salt for Sugar refers to the act of swapping the salt for sugar, or in other words the negative for positive.
